baby aquarium...without water.

my friend adam doesn't have kids...YET.

though he has a wonderfully fun idea of keeping an eye on the little ones while keeping them safe.

a baby aquarium. adam wants to install one at his workshop. this would give adam the ability to keep his future children safe while still being able to work. i am sure it will be a big glass room or a wall...not a small aquarium that could hold fish. and i use the word aquarium knowing that there really would be NO water in it.

adam is a highly skilled artisan. he creates almost anything from wood (i don't think the aquarium will be built of wood). mostly in the furniture genre, but he isn't limited. in adam's workshop there are several non kid friendly features...mostly being saws, sanders and so on.

while this is a fun idea, my wife has tried to get adam to explain how it will work and what safety features will it have (i.e. padded floors and walls). or if he is even serious.

i just want to see an artist's rendering or some plans.

hopefully i will readdress this idea in the future with more details.

jealousy...

Where: Living Room.
What: Quinn feeding dog (Winston) his dinner.

Me: Quinn! Don't feed the dog your dinner.

Quinn (cocking his head): Don't be jealous daddy.

he then proceeds to try and give me some of his dinner albeit a much smaller portion as compared to the dog's.

hello. nice to meet you.

welcome. this is the beginning of a journey. these are the postings of a stay at home dad. first of all let me introduce myself. my name is dan. i am 33. i have two beautiful children (boy and girl) and a wonderful and beautiful wife (sarah). my family and i live just outside of philadelphia, pa. i am college educated (how well i am educated is up for debate). i met my wife in college and we were married in 2002.

my first born, Quinn was born in 2006 and Iris was born in 2008 (they are closer together in age than you might assume). when Quinn was born i started working part time, but when Iris was born i became a real stay at home dad.

over the past two years i have had several interesting experiences. i feel i should be sharing these with fellow stay at home dads and well everyone who has kids...and with those who want kids, and even those who don't want kids. because some of the things that happen on a daily basis can be interesting to everyone.

i am not saying that i have an exciting life, but it sure isn't boring.
